Townee is based in the San Francisco East Bay area and creates imperfect human songs. No AI or autotune. The music is raw indie rock stitched with pop hooks and influenced by jazz, blues, folk and electronic music. Songwriter Tony Venuto is on vocals and guitar, Tim Lefebvre carries the groove on bass and Tori Elliott supplies the harmonies. Drummers include Victor Indrizzo (on 'Walls Crashing' and 'City and Sand'), Gary Novak (on 'Imperflections') and Eyal Satat (on '20 Years').
The name Townee is a phonetic way of spelling Tony, but also can be pronounced Townie and can mean:
- an urban city dweller who is out of place in the countryside
- a resident of Oakland, CA called “the Town” by locals
- a person who grows up in a college town, but has no affiliation with that institution
Committed to releasing a track every 8 weeks and an album every calendar year, Townee's music is always changing and growing. Find out what comes next by following on Instagram, YouTube, Bandcamp or your streamer of choice.
